What does the confidence level mean when (automatically) matching payments in Payt?

Payt suggests which file an incoming transaction should be linked to and assigns a confidence level to this suggestion.

Updated this week

Factors used to determine confidence

Payt always attempts to suggest which case (invoice, collection case, etc.) the transaction should be linked to. This is based on four factors:

  • Payment reference: Does the description contain the invoice number?

  • Amount: Does the transaction amount exactly match one or more cases?

  • Bank account: Has this bank account been seen before in a previously matched transaction from the same customer?

  • Date: Could the payment date correspond with how long the case(s) have been outstanding?

Confidence levels

Based on the four factors above, Payt indicates how reliable the transaction suggestion is. Confidence is categorised into three levels:

  • Very likely: Payt is almost certain that this transaction should be linked to the suggested case.

  • Likely: Payt expects that this transaction should be linked to the suggested case.

  • Possible: Payt thinks this transaction could potentially be linked to the suggested case.
