What do I need to do to use Peppol, by country?

What you need to do to use Peppol depends on the country where your company is based. This article explains per country what to provide to Payt and what to enable.

Read more about activating Peppol:

If your company is based in the Netherlands

As soon as you provide Payt with a valid UBL invoice according to BIS Billing 3.0 (BISv3) and activate Peppol, Payt sends your invoices via Peppol.

  1. Provide Payt with a valid Dutch UBL invoice according to BISv3. This invoice comes from your invoicing or accounting software.

  2. Activate Peppol in Payt.

If your company is based in Belgium

To use Peppol in Belgium, do the following:

  1. Provide Payt with a valid Belgian UBL invoice according to BISv3.

  2. Activate Peppol in Payt.

  3. Make Peppol delivery mandatory for Belgian business customers.

If your company is based in Germany

What you need to do in Germany depends on how you want to send your invoices. Payt supports two routes: by email and via Peppol.

ZUGFeRD and XRechnung are German e-invoice formats with structured invoice data. ZUGFeRD is a PDF invoice with this data added, so the invoice remains readable but can also be processed automatically by your customer’s software. XRechnung is an XML file.

Sending by email (ZUGFeRD or XRechnung)

Can your accounting software provide ZUGFeRD or XRechnung, such as Exact Online Germany? Then enable that option in your accounting software. Payt receives the invoice and attaches it to the email we send on your behalf. You do not need to enable anything in Payt.

Sending via Peppol

Do you or your customers want to send via Peppol? Then do the following:

  1. Provide Payt with a valid German XRechnung (UBL according to BISv3).

  2. Activate Peppol in Payt.

If your company is based in France

In France, you start with the PA registration. A PA (Plateforme Agréée) is a platform approved by the French government through which electronic invoices are sent and received. Then you provide a valid invoice and activate Peppol.

  1. Provide Payt with a valid French UBL invoice according to BISv3.

  2. Activate Peppol in Payt.
